When What Documents will I need when Sponsoring a Person Visiting the UK?

You will be required to show various documents to show that you meet the various visiting the UK requirements. In your preparations for sponsoring a person visiting the UK you should ensure that you have the following documents:

• evidence of your own immigration status in the UK; and

• a letter of sponsorship explaining your relationship to the person who is applying, why they are visiting the UK and where your visitor will be staying.

If you, as part of sponsoring a person visiting the UK, you are going to provide financial support and accommodation and/or pay for their travel you should provide the following documents outlining this intention:

• copies of your last six months bank or building society statements and payslips; or

• a copy of your savings account statements.

If you are sponsoring a person visiting the UK for business you will need to provide proof of the business relationship between you and the person you are sponsoring. Under the guidelines for sponsoring a person visiting the UK you should provide a letter from your company outlining the business relationship, what your visitor is going to be doing when visiting the UK and explaining why and how you are sponsoring a person visiting the UK.
