As part of the wide hsmp changes, from 1 September 2007 all nationals of countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) require prior entry clearance as a student for studying in the UK.
The exception is if you wish to enter under the new category of student visitor.
For a course which is less than six months you can come as a student visitor, where the same entry clearance restrictions apply as those of a visitor visiting the uk.
