MBA Provision Under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP)

Please note that once new changes come into force there will no longer be an MBA provision under the HSMP. The UK Government expects people of this calibre to qualify without the need for the privision under normal HSMP guidelines.

What is the MBA Provision under the HSMP?

In 2004 it was announced that if you have attended one of 50 of the top business schools in the world you will be eligible for a UK work permit valid for 12 months. When your UK work permit is close to expiring, applicants may apply for a 3 year exention and then sit the Life in the UK test to prepare them for their unlimited leave to remain application. This provision forms part of the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP), and was launched on 12 April 2005.

Why was the MBA Provision Introduced?

The Highly skilled Migrant programme is designed to attract highly skilled people to the UK to seek and take work. Go to the HSMP section to find out more. The MBA provision was introduce to address the lack of high quality management in the UK economy by attracting highly qualified and talented managers to the UK. The Masters in Business Administration is one of the most respected and recognised management qualifications.

Who Qualifies Under the HSMP MBA Provision?

If an applicant has graduated from one of the 50 eligible MBA programmes after 2 December 2004 then they qualify under the HSMP MBA provision. If an applicant graduated before 2 December 2004 then the applicant may still qualify under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme, details of which are on our HSMP page.

What are the Conditions of the HSMP MBA Provision?

Which Institutions are Eligible Under the HSMP MBA Provision?

The list of eligible MBA programmes contains 10 UK and 40 international institutions and is as follows:

Don't see your institution on the list? Don't worry, as your MBA qualifacition will still score you a good number of points, full details of which are on our HSMP page.
